MISSION

The IBVM is a faith-based organization committed to promoting justice, dignity, and the rights of the most marginalized, especially women and girls, through active engagement with the United Nations. Guided by the Gospel, the vision of Mary Ward, Catholic Social Teaching, and our core values—Justice, Verity, Freedom, Sincerity, and Felicity—we work with civil society organizations, UN agencies, and member states to challenge unjust structures. Our ministry is shaped by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with focus areas that include gender equity, elimination of violence, eradication of poverty, access to education and health, anti-trafficking efforts, environmental care, and financing for development.

Our mission is carried out through advocacy, collaboration, and capacity-building across the IBVM/CJ global network. We strengthen our presence at the UN by amplifying the voices of those we serve, fostering participation in UN processes, and promoting awareness and action on SDGs and Human Rights. Through partnerships, communication initiatives, and opportunities for engagement—especially for youth—we support our members to advocate effectively at local, national, and global levels.
